Oh-no, not ‘That’ time again!

Oh-no, not ‘That’ time again!

“Psssst!…..

…Pssssssst!!!”

East Rock was really trying his best to wake West Rock. They had ‘Visitors’ coming in half-hour and West Rock needed to be up.

“OI!!!” East Rock shouted. “WAKE UP!!” he yelled.

That got West Rocks attention; he began to stir. “What time is it?”

Not again. East Rock went through this every single year: Solstice coming, Visitors approaching and, as usual, West Rock, totally forgetting the time of year – again – always needing reminding.

As West Rock started to get his bearings, he grumbled the same moaning that he did every year:

“Why can’t they go to Stonehenge or somewhere, why do they have to come here for their ‘Praying to the Stones’ ritual? Don’t they realize that their laying hands on me, whilst chanting some kind of weirdness, doesn’t actually do anything?”

“Just do it” East Rock implored.

So with a heavy, bored sigh, West Rock did as he was told and began to ‘Vibrate’.

How these people thought this ridiculous charade was some kind of ‘Spiritual Awakening’, he had no idea.

But West Rock did know something. He knew that once they laid their hands on him and felt ‘Something’, they would think he was great. And possessing that kind of ‘public greatness’ meant just one thing: He, nor East Rock, would be bulldozed down only to be replaced by low-cost housing.

So, on that fact alone, he decided that ‘Vibrating’ for these incredibly deluded people was, very much, in his favour to do so. And, with that, he quit his moaning, saw the positive, and did as East Rock asked him to: and pulsed away!

    1. Hi, sorry for the late reply, it’s been a very bad week. I just want to say thank you for taking the time to comment on the ‘talking rocks’ story. Yeah, there are some people who believe in that side of spirituality, the talking rock was having none of it though; but, if it works for some…… πŸ™‚

  1. I enjoyed your story from the POV of the rocks. It was really cute. It made it very unusual and interesting. (The story was a little on the long side but that is okay occasionally). Thank you for participating with FFfAW Victoria!

    1. Hi PJ, hell of a week, just picked up my comments now. Yeah, I’m sorry about the length, I really struggled with it on this one. I have yet to see today’s photo prompt. Still, I’m glad you liked my story of the ‘talking’ rocks! Keep well πŸ™‚

      1. Hi Victoria! I sent out the new challenge prompt last night. Please let me know if you get it or don’t get it. It’s no big deal about the length. Certainly no one is going to get in trouble for going over. I know it is hard to cut a story down sometimes. We are all trying to keep it within certain limits is all. But really, no big deal. We all go over the limits sometimes.

          1. Yeah, it was an upheaval and people were advised to not all upgrade at the same time and wait a few days as broadband would be heavily effected. Well hopefully it’s sorted now and everyone gets the prompt this week. πŸ™‚

          2. It wasn’t as bad as suggested, not my end anyhow, it loaded quicker than estimated, though there were a few teething problems for a day or two, but it was worth it as Windows 10 is really nice. I’ll have to get myself one of those BT keyboards, sounds it comes in handy and is convenient than using a heavy laptop. Typing is okay on a tablet, but it doesn’t beat using a keyboard. I’ll have to look into it.

          3. I’ve got the WP app and a few writing apps that I’m yet to use. I’ve only had the iPad a few weeks, but i don’t like using the touch keyboard for writing, it just doesn’t have the same feel as a keyboard, so it would be good to get a physical one for it. Regarding blogging, if you don’t mind me asking, what apps have you found?

          4. The WP app that is very handy for blogging. It has the reader to read the blogs I follow, or ones that I want to read under tags, it has a reader for comments – where I go to read all the comments. I have “Blogsy” app which makes it easy for me to publish blog posts (I really like it). Those are the two main apps. If I think of another one, I’ll let you know. I have the Logitech BT keyboard and I love it! It is separate yet it snaps to the ipad to make it easy to move when you need to move it. I also got a case that the ipad and BT keyboard fit together into the case nicely.

          5. Thanks for this. I had a look at Blogsy and it seems really good. And thanks for the name of the keyboard. Be interesting to see how much better it makes the iPad for typing. Gonna look on eBay and hopefully the price will be okay too.

          6. When I bought mine several years ago it was $35.00. It is easy to type with, in fact, it makes my iPad more like a laptop. My keyboard is 10″ x 7 1/2″. It has a groove in the top that the iPad fits right into. When I put it up at night, I just lay the iPad down over the keyboard and it fits right together. I have a case that they both fit snugly in.
