A Selfish Man

There he stands. Looking through the uppermost turret window at the vastness of his courtyard. He feels so proud. Proud of what he has achieved.

“Daddy, Daddy, look what I’ve drawn for you”!

He remembers a time when this was all he wanted. To be the king of his own castle. He thinks of his wife. The most beautiful woman he had ever seen. She is on his arm. Life can’t get better than that.

“Daddy? I’ve drawn you something”

The pride within him threatens to explode.

Turning from the window he makes his way to the breakfast room to sip coffee and read the morning news.

The child follows him.

What a life this man has. Everything he ever wanted.

…“daddy?”

    1. Hello Yiing! and Thank you 🙂 It has been way too long since I did anything writing related. I’ve been so overwhelmed with personal and life events that I had nothing left in the tank.

I get notifications on new posts from blogs I follow and I have noticed you have written a few things. That’s great, but It’s been so hectic I truly had no time to even view the reader. So I’m glad you’ve written and I hope to keep things turning and get back on track 🙂

      1. I understand what you’re saying. Sometimes I don’t have time to view the reader as well, and when I do I read most of everything I’ve skipped. Hope to read more of your works again soon! 🙂

  1. Victoria, nice to have you back! Great story but as you said, very sad. I assume he lost his wife and is raising his child alone. I hope he didn’t die at the end when the child couldn’t get his attention. Great story!

    1. Hey PJ 🙂 Yes it’s been a while! (good to write something for here 🙂 ) Unfortunately this story isn’t quite so rosy. The man still has his wife, has his dream ‘home’ and looks ‘great’ in others eyes, but…. He’s a Narcissist who only cares for his own needs. He is ignoring his child. He is the only thing that matters to Him in His world. (It’s dark).

People like this really do exist which is why it’s difficult to imagine because ‘normal’ folk like you and me find it hard to comprehend.

So I can totally understand your line of thinking on what the story is about because these Narcissist types are hard to fathom. And sadly, this is how they behave 🙂

(I have an overwhelming urge to apologise. These people are not ‘normal’. I just had to write it today) xx
